I know this company seem to supply most of the aftermarket landrover world but I would like to know if folks have had issues like i have.

5yrs ago I bought a rear x member with extensions to just behind the coil spring seats. All looked ok, before I fitted it I took off my southdown tank guard and offered it up to the new member, not a single hole matched location (this had bolted without a single issue to the original chassis). SO I started to look more closely, Not a one of the holes on the replacment were drilled to the correct size, they were all larger, the tapped holes along the bottom of the X member were also larger than they should be M10 becoming M12 etc (pretty important when the bolts to hold the tank on and guard need to be a specific size). Then I looked at the rear tub supports, particularly where the fuel lines would run, they had not made the required holes in the supports to allow the fuel lines to run to the tank. If i had just fitted this I would not have been able to make them. I took it back, and back, and back 3 times each time I got another which didnt fit, holes wrong etc. Try to talk to them explaining the issues. 'Look mate we've been making them from our jig for years its your motor thats wrong!!'

Power steering pump failed internaly within 8months.

Bought, seals, bearings etc to re do the rear hubs a short while ago, opened the bearings, looked ok, light oil coat but when I tried to spin them it was if after the oil coat they were given a dunk in a sand bath.

Come to do the front hub seals and bearings and called my local supplier in Chesterfield, requested that I didnt have any Britpart components and would happily pay extra for timkin or other major brand bearings. I was quizzed over this (brit part bearings £6 per hub, timkin from local bearing supplier £30) and I told them about the last lot of bearings I had had from them, said I know its not your fault obviously something went west in production but would rather not have to do 2 60mile round trips again but just pay more in the first place 'You're saying we are supplying crap parts well we only supply Britpart so there is no point in talking to you anymore' put the phone down on me.

Now Ive used this place quite a bit over the years, If i went into a pub and asked for IPA rather than Boddingtons I wouldn't expect to get kicked out just because I personaly think Boddingtons tastes of eggs. This place has now lost my custom, I know most places stock parts from various manufacturers, I ended up traveling over to Stockport for my bits, no problems, told them what i wanted and said no britpart, OK no probs, now also found a place in Doncaster, can do it all on line, and collect or if it's over £50 free delivery!! (return train is £5.12 its £7 in fuel on the Super tenere). If i do all the leg work (ie find all the part numbers for them I can get my orders at online prices which is cheeper than over the counter)
When you look at the site at parts it shows all the makes they stock and you can select who you have :)

Seems to be luck of the draw with their stuff. If I had a choice, I would never buy Britpart just because of all the bad things you hear about them on various LR forums. I recently bought a fuel tank for my Series II 88" and it fitted fine and apart from the supplied gaskets being dump, it seems to be a good 'un.
I usually stock up on all my parts at Old Sodbury, but then again, the old girl can sit on the drive if it breaks, until I can get around to it.

Over the years I have thought they really need to rebrand the stuff they sell as Shitpart.

I forgot the complete set of injectors I had for a Turners remanufactured 2.5td 90 I got some years back. Black smoke knocking running like crap. Took the injectors to Lucas down the road, the injector bloke stuck them in the test rig... they basicly didnt mist the diesel, more dripped or squirted it in like a hose pipe!!

I'm in the motor trade, and like most things you get wot you pay for, parts are usually cheap because they are poor quality, just make sure you don't get screwed over by forking out over the odds for a part thinking it will be better quality, then end up with a cheap piece of rubbish at an expensive price.

Saying that though, i had a lot of problems with the front slave cylinders on my serirs 3 daily driver, fitted lucas units at 15 quid a piece, each one lasted approx 4 months before one by one leaking and needing replacement.
6 cylinders and 6 sets of shoes later i fitted a cheap set at a fiver a piece, 3 years later and still no leaks. I know wot your thinking, makes no sense to me either.

Also had a lot of problems with recon starter motors lasting untill just out of warrinty so i got a brand new one for 130 quid. Job done, no more starting with the handle ( makes starting the 500 a dream! ), or so i thought untill it let go after only 3 months. They had that back and i got a full refund.

Starter has now been solved by rebuilding a 1960 series 2 starter by yours truly, and now swings over stronger than it ever has done.

All rubber parts I have brought have failed within weeks, ignition parts I have heard are all shite, particularly V8! Will only buy genuine where possible these days, just brought a genuine 2.25 ignition condensor for £2.20p! Genuine ain't always expensive.......

:( Complete set of wheel bearings for a 90 Defender, changed after one started grumbling, took it to Pendine (240 mile round trip) only to have to call the recovery truck on the return journey at Swansea, All four sets were beginning to collapse!!!
I was told that it was bad fitting, when I told them they were professionally fitted and the journey I took, I was then told that I should not have driven in salt water! Dispited the fact that Pendine beach is closed to motor vehicles, and the truck never left the tarmac!! :(
SHIT PARTS is about right. :o
