I take it the DVLA keep the form 654(demob) as that was not sent back to me.

I did make a photocopy of it first though before I sent it.

The thing I do not understand with the DVLA is why this process is so complicated, it is a motorbike, engine/frame number and receipt show it is not stolen. So it is now an OBJECT taxable by the government of the day and a source of income but they still make you jump thru hoops to make it an asset for them :!: :!:

I looked into road registering a CRF 230 on the road but some bizzare law says a trail bike has to have a seat height of at least a certain height and the CRF is about 2mm too short, so you have to either give up or lie or get lucky on the day with a less knowledgeable member of staff to register.
Why is this process decided by people who have never ridden a motorbike and would be hard pressed to see the difference between a CRF 230, MT500 or a FIREBLADE :?:

rant over NURRSSSE

oh of course HUGE thanx to simon for making MT registration a better experience

UPDATE:

For those who have the 654 so dont need a date cert, its still worth printing out the following to take with you:

Quote:
IMPORTANT note to DVLA staff:

The Armstrong MT500 or Harley Davidson MT350(e) can be registered with a normal application. No customs documents are necessary. Any first registration application should be accompanied by either a 654 MOD disposal form OR this certificate from the MT Riders Club.

This is now policy which has been issued to local offices.

If you are unsure, please call the following colleague for confirmation, Mrs Richards is very happy to talk you through it:
